Trainee Sales Guy: So how's it going? Is Maria getting everything squared away in here with the paperwork? Hey, would you like anything to drink?
Me: I'm good, thanks.
TSG: Are you sure?
TSG: You don't want a bottle of water?
TSG: Soda?
TSG: Jack and Coke?
Me: ...
Maria: ...
Me: Wait, I just bought a car and you're offering me alcohol before I drive it off the lot?
TSG: ...
Maria: { busts out laughing }
TSG: Um, heh, uh, we don't actually have that here.

Happy is usually not a way to describe how I feel...
PM: What can you tell me about ClearQuest?
Me: It’s going away in about a week.
PM: So, how do I get access to it?
Me: You don’t. It’s going away in about a week.
PM: But there are tasks on the project schedule for importing it into our system. Should I remove those?
Me: No, well… no. You see, right now our network and software architects are working to migrate the outstanding defects from ClearQuest to Microsoft Team Foundation Server. Also, we’re not going to actually import the defects into your system. We discussed having your system interface with TFS once we get it up and running, but we’re not there yet. We still want to do this, but just not right now. Also, you really should be asking the systems integration resource identified on the project schedule; they’d be able to give you better answers.
PM: Oh. Okay.
PM: …
PM: So, once you get TFS up and running we’ll get the defects imported into our system?
Me: ...
Me: Not exactly. You really should be discussing this with the assigned system integrations resource.
PM: Okay. Will do... So, is TFS anything like SVN?
Me: In a way. TFS has a source code repository, but it also includes SharePoint-based project portals and a bug tracking system… you know, more of a build and release management solution.
PM: We use SVN.
Me: That’s nice.
PM: Yeah. So… when do you think you guys will have time to get this integration done?
Me: …
Me: Yeah, you really need to be talking to the system integrations resource assigned to this project.
PM: Okay, but I need to get something on the project schedule. Would you say maybe the first of August?
Me: No.
PM: What do you mean?
Me: No, I wouldn’t say the first of August because I’m not in a position to commit that group to a deadline. Talk to the system integrations resource. All their information is listed in your project plan.
PM: Oh, okay. Thanks.
